Ryan Gosling Is In Talks To Lead New Star Wars Film From Director Shawn Levy

Ryan Gosling has showcased his Kenergy in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, gone toe-to-toe with Harrison Ford in Blade Runner 2049, and impressed in movies from The Good Guys to La La Land and last year’s The Fall Man. The man clearly has star power. But what about Star Wars energy? Well, in an unexpected turn, THR reports that the three-time Oscar nominee is in talks to lead Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars movie. Yes, you read that right!

Per THR, the Canadian star is negotiating to topline Shawn Levy’s secretive Star Wars project. If he signs on, the untitled project would move to the front of Disney and Lucasfilm’s queue. According to THR’s sources, cameras could roll as soon as this Christmas, placing it just behind The Mandalorian & Grogu in production. We don’t yet know who Gosling might play, or the plot details, but Levy’s The Adam Project collaborator Jonathan Tropper has been working on the script for over a year.

A decade ago, rumors spread about Gosling potentially joining J.J. Abrams’ first Disney Star Wars film. Apart from his roles in sci-fi like Blade Runner 2049 and First Man, the actor has mostly avoided franchise films. But with Levy directing, Tropper scripting, and Gosling’s recent Oscar performance, this project could have strong “Force” and “Kenergy.” LFG!
